Yokohama, Japan, September 19, 2019 – Korea downed Cameroon 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Thursday to improve their record to 2-3 and captain Kim Yeon Koung said the team wants to give more experience to their younger players.

 

Korea coach Stefano Lavarini: "In the first set we suffered from their strong attack, great defense and fighting spirit. We did better in the second set and controlled it with our service. We gave more opportunities to player to get experience. We could have done better in passing."

 

Korea captain Kim Yeon Koung: "We are happy to win. It is good to end the round with a victory. We have many young players and are getting ready for the Olympic qualifying tournament, so we are trying many things here. I rested for the Russia match, so I was able to give 100 percent today. We hope to show better results in the next round."

 

Cameroon assistant coach Anomah Neba: "It was a difficult match. Korea is a great team. We tried to use our tactics and they worked some in the first set. We did not have endurance at the end of sets. They served better. We came here to learn and are happy to from a great team like Korea."

 

Cameroon captain Christelle Nana Tchoudjang:"Korea played very well today. Their service was good. Our reception id not function well. We will do our best in the next match and hope to show our progress."
